Two (2) representatives from SEAFDEC Training Department attended in the 3rd Coral Triangle Fishers Forum from 4 to 6 July 2017 in Iloilo City, Philippines, organized by the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM) Working Group of the Coral Triangle Initiative for Coral Reefs, Fisheries and Food Security (CTI-CFF), which support from the World Wild Fund for Nature (WWF) and the CTI-CFF Regional Secretariat. The forum discussed on sustainable coastal fisheries through local innovation: scaling up effective models for IUU fishing reduction, catch documentation and traceability in support of sustainable local fisheries. The forum was attended by CTI-CFF Member Countries namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Solomon Islands, Timor-Leste, Oceans and Fisheries Partnership, WWF, Pacific Community (SPC), SEAFDEC and so on. In this occasion, SEAFDEC took this opportunity by introducting the electronic system of ASEAN Catch Documentation Scheme (eACDS) at the Plenary and Demonstration Session to promote activities on reducing IUU fishing through innovative technology applied locally.
