THE WORKSHOP ON VERTICAL SLOT FISH PASSAGE DESIGN TO FACILITATE MIGRATION OF INDIGENOUS FISH SPECIES IN THE SOUTHEAST ASIAN REGION

THE WORKSHOP ON VERTICAL SLOT FISH PASSAGE DESIGN TO FACILITATE MIGRATION OF INDIGENOUS FISH SPECIES IN THE SOUTHEAST ASIAN REGIONThe experimental research and meeting workshop on vertical slot fish passage design to facilitate migration of indigenous fish species in the Southeast Asian Region was organized from 4 to 8 December 2017 at the SEAFDEC/Training Department, Samut Prakan Province, Thailand. There are 10 participants from Department of Fisheries Thailand, SEAFDEC/Secretariat and SEAFDEC/Training Department participated in this Workshop. This Workshop outputs came up with information on capability of fish migration biology at 11-degree design slope of the vertical fish way and appropriate discharge of water passing through the passage at proper depths to facilitate the migration of indigenous fish species to swim upstream. Otherwise, the recommendation on way forward for further research and development for improving the migrate of fish across including the barrier in Thailand and Southeast Asian region was also came up from this Workshop.
