The SEAFDEC Training Department (TD) has conducted the survey to update the construction and design of Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs) in order to seek the significant factors of FADs construction and design that is different between local and fishing ground. That would be lesson learnt to promote FADs in other SEAFDEC Member Countries. The survey on FADs was conducted for small-scale fisheries along the coast of Andaman Sea which covers six provinces, namely; Ranong, Phungnga, Phuket, Trang, and Satun Provinces from 19 to 31 January 2018. The surveys came up with 1) guidance to introduce design and factors on the FADs installation and appropriate management of the effective FADs (Types/factors, Designs, Construction, Management), 2) mapping of significant fishing grounds and habitats on FADs installation along the coast of Andaman Sea, and 3) reference, knowledge, skills and experiences to support capacity building on FADs promotion in Southeast Asia.
