PRACTICAL WORKSHOP ON TUNA STOCK RISK ASSESSMENT

The Practical Workshop on Tuna Stock Risk Assessment for Yellowfin Tuna, Bigeye Tuna and Skipjack Tuna Resources in Sulu and Sulawesi Seas (SSSs) was organized from 13 to 18 May 2019 by the SEAFDEC Training Department (TD) at TD office, Samut Prakan, Thailand. There were 12 participants from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, SEAFDEC/TD, and SEAFDEC/MFRDMD attended in this Workshop. The Workshop invited a Japanese resource person, Dr. Tsutomu Nishida who is experienced and expert on Tuna Stock Assessment. At the end, all participants were expected to understand steps of tuna stock assessments from CPUE Standardization, stock assessments (ASPIC), Kobe Plot (stock status trajectory plot), and risk assessment. This Workshop intended to build up capacity of researchers around Sulu and Sulawesi Seas countries under the project of “Offshore Fisheries Resources Exploration in Southeast Asia.
