The SEAFDEC Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) organized the “Teleseminar on Effective Methods to Promote Fisheries Resources Management in Small scale Fisheries” on 29 June 2020. The Teleseminar aims to share information and experience on effective approaches to fisheries resources management in small-scale fisheries to ensure the effective implementation of similar projects in the future. There were 65 participants (38 male and 27 women) attended in this Teleseminar.
This Teleseminar presented the results and outputs of implementation activities under the projects to promote the fisheries resources management of small-scale fisheries in Southeast Asia. The projects have conducted the activities in the selected pilot sites of Lao PDR and Cambodia to support the fishing communities in strengthening the capacity to manage the fishery resources by the community themselves. Moreover, the projects also focus to introduce the alternative job to improve the income of the fishers for better livelihood. There are various kinds of approaches and methods of fisheries management that were implemented in the project area of two (2) countries. After the project end in 2019, the fishing communities were strengthened and could continue to conduct the activities on fisheries resources management.
