In house Training Workshop on Gender Awareness and Gender Mainstreaming in Fisheries Sector were conducted from 26 to 28 July 2016 in Nakon Nayok Province for 24 trainees from TD and Secretariat. The training workshop aims to increased awareness of gender concept and relevant tools for mainstreaming gender in fisheries sector at all level. The training workshop provided knowledge on gender and relevant concepts (e.g. gender vs. sex, gender equality vs. equity, and identifying gender issues in fisheries sector and their daily life and tools for gender mainstreaming throughout the project cycle in fisheries development sectors (e.g. gender analysis; gender indicator, sex-disaggregated data, gender budgeting, gender in M&E and reporting, etc). Moreover participants have learned how to apply of different tools in their daily work and life, and at the end of the training workshop, the participants developed their group gender action plan to be implemented in one year and gender focal point of SEAFDEC can developed a follow up and coaching plan and create the condition for organizing a follow up workshop after 1 year in order to review the participants implementation of the gender action plan and draw the lesson learnt from the progress and challenge of the 1 year implementation and further develop the gender action plan for the following year and later as part of routine work.
