DATA COLLECTION FOR FISHERIES MANAGEMENT IN BURI RAM, THAILAND

The SEAFDEC Training Department (TD) in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries (DOF), Thailand conducted the data collection using questionnaires to assess, identify the key success, and the lesson learned of the fisheries management project implementation that integrated gender dimension and livelihood improvement in fishing communities at Subsomboon Community in Buri Ram Province, Thailand from 2 to 4 March 2021. The total sampling number is 47 households who are the group members of the Aquatic Animal Food Bank Project in year 2021. Then, the collection data will be analyzed and report back to the community as information for fisheries management and livelihood improvement together with gender dimension plan in the future. This activity is under the project of “Small-scale Fisheries Management for Better Livelihood and Fisheries Resources”.

ONLINE PRACTICAL WORKSHOP ON EACDS APPLICATION VERSION 2 FOR MALAYSIA

The SEAFDEC Training Department (TD) in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries, Malaysia organized the Online Practical Workshop on the Use of electronic ASEAN Catch Documentation Scheme (eACDS) Application Version 2 in the Part of Movement Document (MD), Statement of Catch (SC), and Catch Certification (CC) from 24 to 25 February 2021 via zoom platform. There were ten (10) fisheries officers and port authorities (5 females and 5 males) participated in this Workshop. The Workshop focused to inform how to use eACDS application version 2 in the part of MD, SC, and CC via learning by doing as practical. The introduction on eACDS application Version 2 and the new feature of eACDS Version 2 through practical of Catch Declaration part were recapped for participants. After this Workshop, the trial on the use of eACDS application version will be conducted by DOF staff with close facilitate by SEAFDEC eACDS working team.

COLLECTION DATA FOR GENDER ANALYSIS IN LAO PRD

The Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in collaboration with the Department of Livestock and Fisheries (DLF) of Lao PDR conducted “Gender Dimension in the Value Chain of Small-scale Inland Aquaculture in Bolikhamxay Province, Lao PDR” from 25 to 29 January 2021. This activity aimed to collect the raw data of gender for analysis on the roles of women and men in inland aquaculture of Lao PDR. The enumerators of the data collection were composed of 5 DLF officers (2 women and 3 men) who had been trained on gender concept and gender analysis. Pakxan District of Bolikhamxay Province was selected as a site study which comprised three (3) villages namely, Pakxan, Pak Puenk, and Sivilay.  Twenty-six respondents were interviewed by semi-structure of questionnaire.  The results of the survey will be used a part of the report on the study on Gender Dimension in the Value Chain of Small-scale Fisheries and Aquaculture in Southeast Asian.

ONSITE TRAINING ON FISH HANDLING FOR FISHERMAN IN KRABI PROVINCE

The SEAFDEC Training Department (TD) organized “The Onsite Training on Promotion of Fish Handling Technique and Labor-saving Equipment for Fisheries” on 18 February 2021 in Baan Nai Nang, Krabi Province. There were 30 small-scale fishermen participated in this Training. The Training aims to enhance knowledge on keeping high quality of fish through promotion to use the table sorting of fish as labor-saving equipment for small-scale fisherman in Baan Nai Nang.

Baan Nai Nang, Krabi Province is located in the Southern part of Thailand. There is a project site of Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM) implementation by TD in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries Thailand.

ONLINE PRACTICAL WORKSHOP ON EACDS FOR MYANMAR

The SEAFDEC Training Department in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries, Myanmar organized the Online Practical Workshop on the Use of electronic ASEAN Catch Documentation Scheme (eACDS) Application Version 2 in the Part of Catch Declaration from 21 to 22 January 2021 through the Google Meet platform. There were thirteen (13) fisheries officers (3 males and 10 females) from Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw officer participate in this workshop. The online workshop focused on the Catch Declaration (CD) part of eACDS application via learning by doing. The introduction on eACDS Version 2 and the new feature of eACDS Version 2 was presented. Moreover, installation of the eACDS mobile application on catch report, requesting and approving for Port-out, catch report at sea via eACDS-catch report application, requesting and approving for Port-in, and verification weight, through issuance of the Catch Declaration (CD) were imparted and practiced to all participants. The workshop expected that the participants will be a trainer to impart this application for fishermen and stakeholders to use eACDS application.
