DATA VALIDATION OF GENDER ANALYSIS IN TRAT PROVINCEThe SEAFDEC/Training Department in cooperation with Sustainable Development Foundation conducted the meeting on data validation of gender analysis in Mairood sub-district, Klong Yai district, Trat province during 6 to 9 December 2016. There are fifty-three participants who are fishers and  stakeholders  from four villages of Mairood sub-district and local government staff joined with this Meeting. The Meeting reported on result of gender study in Mairood sub-district which conducted from 10 to 21 October 2017 to audiences. The Meeting expected that the audience will gain knowledge on gender quality concept and bring the data to development plan of community.

THE WORKSHOP ON VERTICAL SLOT FISH PASSAGE DESIGN TO FACILITATE MIGRATION OF INDIGENOUS FISH SPECIES IN THE SOUTHEAST ASIAN REGION

THE WORKSHOP ON VERTICAL SLOT FISH PASSAGE DESIGN TO FACILITATE MIGRATION OF INDIGENOUS FISH SPECIES IN THE SOUTHEAST ASIAN REGIONThe experimental research and meeting workshop on vertical slot fish passage design to facilitate migration of indigenous fish species in the Southeast Asian Region was organized from 4 to 8 December 2017 at the SEAFDEC/Training Department, Samut Prakan Province, Thailand. There are 10 participants from Department of Fisheries Thailand, SEAFDEC/Secretariat and SEAFDEC/Training Department participated in this Workshop. This Workshop outputs came up with information on capability of fish migration biology at 11-degree design slope of the vertical fish way and appropriate discharge of water passing through the passage at proper depths to facilitate the migration of indigenous fish species to swim upstream. Otherwise, the recommendation on way forward for further research and development for improving the migrate of fish across including the barrier in Thailand and Southeast Asian region was also came up from this Workshop.

HUMAN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT ON FISHERIES MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR MYANMAR

HUMAN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT ON FISHERIES MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR MYANMARThe SEAFDEC Training Department (TD) by the project of Human Resources Development on Sustainable Fisheries organized “The Workshop on Development of the Fisheries Management Plan for Thahton Township, Mon State, Myanmar” which aims to strengthen the understanding of the working process to develop a management plan. This Workshop was held in Surat Thani Province, Thailand from 20 to 25 November 2017 and participated by five (5) participants from Thahton Township, Mon State, Myanmar. At the end, the Workshop came up with a draft of Fisheries Management Plan. Moreover, the participants visited and observed the activities to increase income as mud crab culture were conducted at fisheries communities in Surat Thani Province. This experience and knowledge will be adapted in Thahton Township.

THE STUDENTS FROM SILPAKORN UNIVERSITY PAID A VISIT TO TD

THE STUDENTS FROM SILPAKORN UNIVERSITY PAID A VISIT TO TDThe SEAFDEC Training Department (TD) gave warm welcomed to 33 students and 4 lecturers from Faculty of Animal Sciences and Agricultural Technology, Silpakorn University Phechaburi Information Technology Campus on 1 December 2017. The aimed of visiting TD are to increased knowledge and experienced of students outside the study room. TD roles and activities which conducted in the region through the lecture on “The Fisheries Technology in the ASEAN” were introduced and imparted to all students. Moreover, the students had a chance visiting TD facilities such as fishing workshop, marine engineering workshop and M.V.SEAFDEC.

THE STUDENTS FROM BURAPHA UNIVERSITY PAID A VISIT TO TD FACILITIES

THE STUDENTS FROM BURAPHA UNIVERSITY PAID A VISIT TO TD FACILITIESThe SEAFDEC Training Department (TD) warmly welcomed 49 students and 1 lecturer from Burapha University, Chanthaburi Campus who learned in Marine Technology on 18 November 2017. The visit aims to increase their knowledge and experienced outside the study room. TD introduced roles and activities which conducted in the region and presented the roles of SEAFDEC to resolve the fisheries issues such as IUU fishing in the region. Moreover, the students practiced on net and knot repairing and had a chance visiting TD facilities such as M.V. SEAFDEC and Fishing Workshop.
