KASATSART STUDENTS VIST AND STUDY TRIP AT TD

The SEAFDEC Training Department (TD) welcomed seventy one students from Faculty of Fisheries, Kasetsart University on 21 October 2016. TD presented introduction of SEAFDEC and activities in each department through the title “Fishing Technology in ASEAN”. Moreover, the students visited TD facilities such as fishing and engineering workshop, M.V.SEAFDEC and M.V.SEAFDEC 2. The knowledge which students gain will be enhanced their experience in fisheries field.

EAFM HIGH-LEVEL FOR LEAD IN VIET NAM

The SEAFDEC Training Department (TD) which supported by the REBYC II-CTI project organized Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM) High-Level Consultation for Leaders, Executive and Decision Makers(LEAD) from 17 to 18 October 2016 in Hai Phong/ Quang Ninh Province, Viet Nam. The introduction and promotion on the EAFM and LEAD EAFM toolkit was presented and imparted to 35 participants who are leaders, executives and decision-makers in the fisheries and other sectors. The understanding and supporting of EAFM to achieve sustainable fisheries management through improved planning and implementation is expect outputs of this Consultation.

CAPACITY BUILDING ON OPERATIONS OF FISHING VESSEL FOR YOUTH

The SEAFDEC Training Department (TD) organized a Training Course on Fishing Vessel Operations from 4 months (4 October 2016 to 17 February 2017) in TD office, Samut Prakan, Thailand. There are 21 students from the Tinsulanonda Fisheries College in Songkha province attended in this training course. The course is designed to cover six relevant subjects: 1) construction and stability of fishing vessels; 2) marine communication, 3) laws and regulations of navigation, 4) navigation technology practices, 5) marine machinery technology and practices, and 6) fishing gear technology and practices. During the training, all 21 students of will also undergo practical training onboard the M.V. SEAFDEC and the M.V. Plalung, and field visits to various shipping facilities. This training course is organized as has been agreed in the Memorandum of Understanding between SEAFDEC Training Department and the Vocational Education Commission of Thailand.

WRITESHOP ON MATERIAL FINALIZATION FOR LEAD EAFM

The SEAFDECTraining Department (TD) which supported by the REBYC II-CTI project organized Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM) Leader Writeshop on Material Finalization for Leaders, Executives and Decision Maker (LEAD) from 10 to 14 October 2016 in Bangkok, Thailand. There are 13 participants from IMA International, NOAA, and SEAFDEC attended this Writeshop, The Writeshop came up with complete material of EAFM which make LEAD more understand on importance of EAFM such as brochure, conversation, animation, video, poster, PowerPoint presentation and etc.

ESSENTIAL EAFM TRAINING OF TRAINERS FOR CAMBODIA

The SEAFDEC Training Department (TD) has been organized “Training of Trainer on Essential Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management for Cambodia” from 27 to 30 September 2016 in Siem Reap. Seven fishery officers who passed the training course on Essential Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management and can be trainer were selected to attend in the training. This training is focused to develop skill, experience and training technique of the trainee to be a good trainer on EAFM for their countries in the future.
