Online Regional Training on Deck Machinery and Hauling Devices

The SEAFDEC Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) organized the “Online Regional Training Course of Deck Machineries and Hauling Devices to Reduce Manpower in Fishing Vessels and Enhance Safety in Fishing Operations” from 5 to 6 May 2021 via zoom platform. There were 29 participants (26 males and 3 females) from ASEAN Member States (AMSs) who have relevant work experience in mechanic, technician and/or engineer attended in the said online training. The online training consisted of three modules as follows: lecture, online demonstration, and discussion which aims to build up the human resource capacity of target participants. At the end, the participants were expected to transfer and utilize the knowledge and information on hauling devices, energy-saving, and safety at sea for capture fishery obtained from training to apply on their responsible area including strengthen on threats, issues, and the way forward for the promotion of hauling device, optimizing energy used and safety at sea in capture fishery and fishing fleet. Moreover, the network of stakeholders in coastal/deep sea to share and exchange of the information and technology on hauling device, optimizing energy used and safety at sea is an expectation of this online training course.

ONLINE PRACTICAL WORKSHOP ON EACDS APPLICATION VERSION 2 FOR VIET NAM

The SEAFDEC Training Department (TD) in collaboration with the Sub Directorate of Fisheries (D-Fish) in Binh Thuan Province organized the Online Practical Workshop on the Use of electronic ASEAN Catch Documentation Scheme (eACDS) Application Version 2 in the Part of Movement Document (MD), Statement of Catch (SC), and Catch Certification (CC) from 7 to 9 April 2021 via zoom platform. There were twenty fisheries officers and port authorities (3 females and 17 males) participated in this Workshop. The Workshop focused to inform how to use eACDS application version 2 in the part of MD, SC, and CC through practice. Moreover, the introduction on eACDS application Version 2 and the new feature of eACDS Version 2 through practical of Catch Declaration part were also recapped for participants. After this Workshop, the trial on the use of eACDS application version will be conducted by D-Fish staff with close facilitate by SEAFDEC eACDS working team.

The Online Practical Workshop on the Use of electronic ASEAN Catch Documentation Scheme (eACDS) Application Version 2 in the Part of Movement Document (MD), Statement of Catch (SC), and Catch Certification (CC) was organized from 30 March to 1 April 2021 via zoom platform by the SEAFDEC Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries, Brunei Darussalam. There were eight (8) fisheries officers (5 females and 3 males) participated in this Workshop. The Workshop focused to inform new feature of eACDS Version 2, the using of eACDS application version 2 in the part of MD, SC, and CC through practice. After this Workshop, the trial on the use of eACDS application version will be conducted by DOF staff with close facilitation by SEAFDEC eACDS working team.

THE MEETING ON PREPARATION OF BASELINE SURVEY ON EAFM PLANNING IN KRABI PROVINCE

The SEAFDEC Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries (DOF), Thailand organized “The Meeting on Discussion and Preparation of Baseline Survey on Data Collection for Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM) planning in Krabi Province from 24 to 26 March 2021 at Krabi Province, Thailand. There were 13 fisheries officers (11 women and 2 men) who will be enumerator participated in this Meeting. The Meeting aims to clarify on questionnaire of baseline survey through input the raw data to analysis in Microsoft Excel for enumerator which will be conducted from 29 March - 9 April 2021. This activity is under the project of “Small-scale Fisheries Management for Better Livelihood and Fisheries Resources”.

SEAFDEC/TD SUPPORT THE DATA VALIDATION WORKSHOP ON GENDER IN LAO PDR

The Workshop of Data Validation on Gender Dimension in the Value Chain of Small-scale Inland Aquaculture in Bolikhamxay Province, Lao PDR was organized on 22 March 2021 by the Department of Livestock and Fisheries (DLF) of Lao PDR, sponsored by the project of “Gender Dimension in the Value Chain of Small-scale Fisheries and Aquaculture in Southeast Asia” which has been implemented by the SEAFDEC Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The Workshop aims to recheck and return the result from data collection on roles of women and men in inland aquaculture of Lao PDR which conducted in January 2021 to local stakeholders. There were 36 participants (9 women and 27 men) attended in the Workshop. The recommendation from the Workshop will be used to complete of the project report.
