Conference hotels

The WSFC/CZAP will be held at Montien Riverside Hotel in Bangkok. We have negotiated special rates for the conference participants. Please make your booking directly with the hotel using the hotel booking form (Montien Riverside Hotel Booking Form). Note that these special rates cover at least three additional days prior to and/or after the conference period. Please let us know if you intend to stay longer and we will coordinate with the hotel on your behalf.

We are also pleased to offer an alternate hotel, Tongtara Riverview Hotel, located about 2 km away from Montien Riverside.

The room rate is Baht 1,200 net (inclusive of all taxes and daily breakfast) for single/double occupancy.

Please make your booking directly with the hotel using the hotel booking form (Tongtara Riverview Hotel Booking Form). For those staying at Tongtara Riverview Hotel, we will provide shuttle service to Montien Riverside Hotel in the morning from Monday October 18 to Friday October 22, 2010.

Airport transfer:

Travel from the airport to both hotels is convenient with public taxis or airport limousine (and possibly rail-link by the conference date). Travel time is about 30-45 minutes (via express way). Public taxis are safe and reasonably priced. They charge by the meter, plus Baht 50 for the express way (approx. Baht 500 one way). Additional information about airport transportation is available at the airport information desk in the arrival hall. Montien Riverside Hotel also offers airport transfer service (please see hotel booking form for details).

Dress code:

The conference organizing committee respectfully asks all participants to attend the sessions and indoor events in courteous and culturally sensitive attire. Business casual would be appropriate.

Field excursion:

Field excursion will take place on Thursday, October 21. Leaving the Montien Riverside Hotel around 7:30am, participants will travel in a multiple number of 10-passenger vans. The group will visit a small-scale fishing village, mangrove forest, a shrimp farm, an area of coastal erosion and a beach. Lunch will be provided. Please bring a hat, sunscreen or other kinds of sun protection, and dress appropriately for a warm, sunny climate. If you wish to swim at the beach, you are also welcomed to bring a swimsuit. The trip will end around 19:30.

Money exchange:

Banks and ATM machines are available throughout the airport. Cash (Thai baht) is more common than credit card for small payments to taxis, street vendors and small shops. Credit cards are accepted in hotels, restaurants and shopping malls.

Notes:

The congress venue is located on a peaceful part of Bangkok on Chao Phraya River, a good distance away from the central area.
