The SEAFDEC Training Department (TD) organized the Regional Write-shop on Socio-Economic and Final Report from 25-26 and 27-29 April 2016 respectively in Phetchaburi Province, Thailand under the project of REBYC II- CTI. Twenty participants from REBYC-II CTI country (Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam attended in the write-shop. The first write-shop aims to discuss on the draft of a document on the socio-economics of trawl fisheries while the second write-shop came up with comprehensive document that consolidates the achievements of the project in the respective countries.
THE SITE SURVEY IN MALAYSIA FOR OCEAN AND FISHERIES PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM
The SEAFDEC Training Department (TD) in collaboration with USAID Ocean team and the Department of Fisheries, Malaysia conducted site survey for Ocean and Fisheries Partnership program from 25 to 27 April 2016 in Malaysia. The ocular survey on catch, fish landing activities, fishing vessels and gear in Tok Bali and Getting fish landing port including activities on fish processing in Kelantan were carried out. Otherwise, introduction of the Ocean and Fisheries Partnership program and activities was imparted and discussed with stakeholder and private sectors in Kelantan through the SEAFDEC Marine Fishery Resources Development and Management Department (MFRDMD) and University Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) as partnership in Terengganu.
PRESS CONFERENCE FOR ASEAN FISHERIES & AQUACULTURE 2016
Press conference for “ASEAN Fisheries and Aquaculture Conference and Exposition 2016: ASEAN Seafood for the World and 11th Asian Fisheries and Aquaculture Forum and Exhibition: Asian Food Security for the World” was organized on 7 April 2016.
The Department of Fisheries (DOF), Thailand in collaboration with the Asian Fisheries Society (AFS), INFOFISH, the Network of Aquaculture Centres in the Asia-Pacific (NACA), the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) and partners are pound to host the “ASEAN Fisheries and Aquaculture Conference and Exposition 2016: ASEAN Seafood for the World and 11th Asian Fisheries and Aquaculture Forum and Exhibition: Asian Food Security for the World” from 4 to 6 August 2016, at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC) in Bangkok, Thailand. Within this event, international scientific conference will be organized to share experiences and lessons-learned in fisheries and aquaculture by six themes as follows: 1) Governance; 2) Education and Training; 3) Sustainable Intensification of Aquaculture; 4) Response to Impacts of Climate Change; 5) Sustainable Fisheries; and 6) Seafood, Post-harvest Technology and Food Safety. Moreover, relevant fisheries and aquaculture exposition will be organized for target group from domestic and international fisheries and aquaculture producers, traders, seafood processors, and equipment suppliers, as well as food service and catering operators.

THE AMBASSADOR EXTRAORDINARY AND PLENIPOTENTIARY OF JAPAN PAID VISIT TO TD
H.E.Mr.Shiro Sadoshima, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Kingdom of Thailand and his party paid an official visit to SEAFDEC Training Department on 21 April 2016. At the welcoming reception, SEAFDEC Secretary-General and Chief of TD Dr. Kom Silapajarn and SEAFDEC Deputy Secretary-General and Deputy Chief of the Training Department led all SEAFDEC staff to greet the Ambassador. The role played by SEAFDEC and TD on the regional fisheries development and significant achievements were presented by the Secretary-General to the honorable guest. Subsequently, a tour to observe TD facilities such as fishing workshop, engineering workshop, M.V.SEAFDEC and on board visit M.V. SEAFDEC 2 was conducted.
SHIPBOARD TRAINING ON OBSERVER ONBOARD PROGRAM
The SEAFDEC Training Department (TD) in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries (DOF), Thailand has been conducted shipboard training on observer onboard program by M.V.SEAFDEC 2 and M.V.Plalung from 7 to 10 April 2016 in upper part of the Gulf of Thailand. There are 30 trainees from DOF, Thailand participated and practiced observer onboard program. Moreover, trawl and longline operation are used and practiced in this training.
