Completion Mission of Maine Resource Assessment in Brunei Darussalam

SEAFDEC/TD in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries, Brunei Darussalam (DOF/BN) completed a fifty-day mission on technical support and marine resources survey in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of Brunei Darussalam by using M.V. SEAFDEC 2 from 22 April to 11 June 2024. The survey aimed to assess the health and abundance of fish stocks in Brunei's waters. The survey covered nearly 99% of Brunei's EEZ by collecting data on demersal and pelagic fish populations, zooplankton, and fish larvae through generated scientific data to guide resilience and sustainable fisheries management practices. Essential Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management Training Course

SEAFDEC/TD organized a “Training Course on Essential Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (E-EAFM)” from 10 to 14 June 2024 in Trang Province, Thailand. Twenty-four participants were officers and work relevant to fisheries resource management in the Lower Andaman Coastline from the Department of Fisheries (20 persons) and the Department of Marine Coastal Resources (4 persons) attended the Training. SEAFDEC/TD Warmly Welcomes Delegates from Lao PDR

SEAFDEC Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) welcomed six delegates from the Skill Development Institute, the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare of Lao PDR on 7 June 2024. The introduction of SEAFDEC through role and implementation activities for ASEAN Member States (AMSs) was presented. On this occasion, the possible capacity building to support Lao PDR fishers on basic fishing gear construction, fishing techniques, and fishing gear-making were discussed and consulted. SEAFDEC Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) welcomed 15 delegates who are faculty members and administrators from the College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (CFAS) of the Iloilo State University Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST) on 4 June 2024.
