TOT ON FISHERY MANAGEMENT IN LAO PDR

The SEAFDEC Training Department (TD) organized TOT (Training on Trainer) on “Facilitating Fisheries Information Gathering through Introduction of Community-based Fisheries Management” from 19 to 22 September 2016, in Vientiane, LAO PDR, aims to impart knowledge and better understanding of fishers and local government authorities on the importance of sustainable fisheries development through co-management for inland fisheries. There are 25 local fishery officers attended in the said training. The training subjects are focused on basic knowledge on co-management and community-based fisheries management (CBFM), experiences on practical approach to co-management and CBFM, and preparation fisheries management plan in fisheries community. At the end, this training is expected that the trainee more understand on fishery management concept through can be key persons to apply and delivery this knowledge to fisher and stakeholder for inland fishery management and sustainable fisheries development in Lao PDR.
