SEAFDEC/TD Participates and Presents on Combating IUU Fishing at BOBP-IGO Workshop

Five staff members from the SEAFDEC Training Department (TD), who are actively involved in conducting and implementing projects to combat Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing, participated in the webinar “Understanding Global Experience in Regional Cooperation to Curb IUU Fishing” on 23 March 2026. The event was organized by the Bay of Bengal Programme Inter-Governmental Organization (BOBP-IGO).

During the session, Mr. Kongpathai Saraphaivanich, the Training and Research Supporting Division Head, served as a representative to present on “Regional Technical Organization Facilitating Capacity Building and Collaboration.” His presentation highlighted SEAFDEC’s implementation activities and its ongoing support for ASEAN Member States (AMSs) in combating IUU fishing within the region.

This webinar was conducted as part of the “Sustainable Management of Fisheries, Marine Living Resources and their Habitats in the Bay of Bengal Region for the Benefit of Coastal States and Communities (BOBLME II)” project. The project is currently being implemented by BOBP-IGO across participating countries in South Asia.
