Ms. Yanida Suthipol, a staff member from the SEAFDEC Training Department, was invited to present on the “Regional Traceability Tools for Fish and Fishery Products: electronic Catch Documentation Schemes (eACDS)” at the ASEAN Regional Workshop on Remote Audit and Electronic Certification, which was organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in cooperation with the ASEAN Secretariat and the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) from 21 to 24 April 2025 in Jakarta, Indonesia. The workshop aimed to validate analytical assessments on the current status of remote audit and electronic certification among ASEAN Member States, build the capacities of ASEAN food safety regulators on best practices related to remote audit and inspection as well as the application of SPS electronic certification, and facilitate the initiation of developing an ASEAN-wide standard on remote audit and inspection. The workshop resulted in recommendations to establish the ASEAN Guidelines on the Use of Remote Audit and Inspection in Regulatory Frameworks and the paperless exchange of electronic certificates, as well as establishing a remote audit and e-certification working group in the ASEAN region.
