Training Course on Energy Optimization for Fishing Vessels and Post-Harvest Fish Handling Technique

SEAFDEC Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) organized the “Regional Training Course on Energy Optimization for Fishing Vessels and Optimal Post-Harvest Fish Handling Techniques” from 27 November to 1 December 2023 in SEAFDEC/TD, Samut Prakan, Thailand. Twenty-four participants from ASEAN Member States attended this training. The training’s main aim is to enhance the technical knowledge of fuel efficiency methods, including the monitoring of fuel consumption during fishing activities. The training provided up-to-date information on the best practices and innovative technologies for optimizing fuel usage, enabling participants to make informed decisions regarding fuel efficiency measures via lecture and discussion by resource persons from SEAFDEC/TD, Fisheries Research Agency (FRA), Japan, Department of Fisheries, Thailand, Kasetsart University, and Prince of Songkla University who are expertise on energy optimization, fish handling, and preservation technique, good practice, and hygiene control. Moreover, demonstrations, practices, and discussions on this matter were conducted. This training is an activity under the project “Responsible Fishing Technology and Practice”.
