Core Expert Consultation on Preparation to Develop the Technical Manual for Socioeconomic Data Collection of Small-scale Fisheries

SEAFDEC Training Department under the project Small-scale Fisheries Management for Better Livelihood and Fisheries Resources organized the “Core Expert Consultation on Preparation to Develop the Technical Manual for Socioeconomic Data Collection of Small-scale Fisheries” from 22 to 23 August 2024 at SEAFDEC/TD, Samut Prakan, Thailand. Fourteen participants (9 female and 5 male) who are expertise in small-scale fisheries management from Kasetsart University, Prince of Songkla University, Department of Fisheries, Thailand, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Indonesia including the SEAFDEC/TD attended in this Consultation. The main purpose of the Consultation is to identify the key elements of socioeconomic data collection and discuss the outlines of the manual to further develop the technical manual for socioeconomic data collection of small-scale fisheries. The consultation defined the key elements of socioeconomics and suggested using the term handbook instead of manual. The handbook will be developed and finalized in the next step.
