Workshop on Finalization of the Small-Scale Fisheries Supply Chain Study Report in Three Sites

The Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center, Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD), organized the Workshop on Finalization of the Small-Scale Fisheries Supply Chain Study Report in Three Sites from 9 to 11 June 2026 at SEAFDEC/TD, Samut Prakan, Thailand. The workshop was conducted under the activity on studying small-scale fisheries (SSF) supply chains of the project “Improving Fishers’ Livelihood and Fisheries Co-Management in Inland and Coastal Small-Scale Fisheries”, supported by JTF7.

The workshop brought together national focal persons from the Department of Livestock and Fisheries (DLF), Lao PDR, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Philippines, and the Department of Fisheries (DOF), Thailand, as well as researchers and staff from SEAFDEC/TD. Three resource persons, namely Dr. Kangwan Chatarchot,
Dr. Suvaluck Sathumanusphan, and Dr. Suttinee Limthammahisorn, were invited to provide technical inputs and recommendations.

The main objective of the workshop was to review, refine, and finalize the study report on SSF supply chains in three pilot sites: Nam Ngum Reservoir (Lao PDR), Thasala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat (Thailand), and Calauit Island, Palawan (Philippines). Participants also discussed possible interventions and development strategies to strengthen SSF supply chains and improve fishers’ livelihoods.

The expected outputs include a final study report, practical recommendations for supply chain development, and potential management interventions to support sustainable
small-scale fisheries and enhance the socio-economic well-being of fishing communities across the three pilot sites.
