SEAFDEC/Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD), in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries (DOF), Thailand, organized the Multi-Stakeholder Dissemination Workshop on Implementing the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM) Plan in Bangsaphan District on 9 September 2026 at the Bangsaphan District Office. The workshop was conducted under the Japanese Trust Fund-supported project, “Improving Fishers’ Livelihood and Fisheries Co-Management in Inland and Coastal Small-Scale Fisheries.” A total of 29 stakeholders, comprising 16 men and 13 women, participated in the workshop. Participants included Mr. Nimit Wongjinda, Chief of the Bangsaphan District Office, representatives from government agencies, local administrative organizations, the Bangsaphan Fisheries Network, fisheries associations, national park authorities, and private-sector partners, including Sahaviriya Steel Industries and Prachuap Port. The workshop served as a platform to disseminate the EAFM Plan for Bangsaphan District and strengthen stakeholders’ understanding of its key priorities and proposed management actions. Participants also exchanged views on opportunities for collaboration and explored how ongoing and planned activities could contribute to the implementation of the plan. The workshop contributed to building a shared understanding and strengthening collaboration among stakeholders to support sustainable fisheries management and the livelihoods of small-scale fishing communities in Bangsaphan District.
On 10 September 2026, SEAFDEC/TD continued the discussions through a local meeting with the Department of Fisheries (DOF), the Bangsaphan Fisheries Network, and key private-sector stakeholders. A total of 31 participants, comprising 27 men and 4 women, attended the meeting. The meeting focused on reviewing potential collaborative activities, developing an EAFM implementation action plan, and identifying and prioritizing key activities required to support the implementation of the EAFM Plan and achieve the project’s expected outputs and indicators.
These activities represent an important step toward translating the EAFM Plan into practical actions through a collaborative and multi-stakeholder approach. SEAFDEC will continue to work with local communities, government agencies, and partners to strengthen community-based fisheries management and co-management, promote sustainable fisheries, and improve the livelihoods and resilience of small-scale fishing communities in Bangsaphan District.
