Discussion Meeting to Develop the Draft Implementation Blueprint for the GoTFish Project

SEAFDEC, in collaboration with key partners, convened a vital in-person technical discussion to develop a practical and technically sound implementation blueprint for Component 1 of the GoTFish Project. The meeting took place from 10 to 11 August 2026 at the SEAFDEC Secretariat in Bangkok, Thailand.

The meeting was led by Dr. Derek Staples, an International Consultant and Fisheries Specialist, who was specifically engaged to provide expert consultancy support due to his extensive experience in regional fisheries governance and the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries. The primary objective of this meeting was to thoroughly review and discuss the draft of the Component 1 Implementation Blueprint for the GoTFish Project, including the technical scope, activities, expected outputs, deliverables, sequencing, and indicative budget requirements.

During the session, participants strategically evaluated relevant project documents, the results framework, and related regional and national fisheries management references. The team focused heavily on preparing and refining the implementation blueprint, ensuring all critical elements—from the technical scope to the indicative budget—were comprehensively covered.

By engaging in these collaborative consultations with the project’s Regional Coordination Unit (RCU), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and relevant partners, the team sought to validate the proposed approach and resolve any areas needing clarification. The ultimate objective was to finalize the blueprint and its associated workplan incorporating the collective feedback.
