SEAFDEC/TD joined the Technology Transfer Meeting for the Project “The Efficiency of Ozone Slurry Ice in the Black Tiger Shrimp Preservation and Cold Chain Logistics Management to Enhance Export Potential of the Marine Shrimp Farmer Clusters in the Andaman Zone” at Phuket Coastal Aquaculture Research and Development Center

On 13 November 2025, the Fisheries Industrial Technology Research and Development Division, Department of Fisheries Thailand, organized a technology transfer meeting for the project “The Efficiency of Ozone Slurry Ice in the Black Tiger Shrimp Preservation and Cold Chain Logistics Management to Enhance Export Potential of the Marine Shrimp Farmer Clusters in the Andaman Zone.” The meeting was held at the Phuket Coastal Aquaculture Research and Development Center, Phuket, Thailand.

The Meeting was chaired by Mr. Prayut Rattanawan, Phuket Provincial Fisheries Officer; the participants included Satun Provincial Fisheries Officer; Director of the Coastal Aquaculture Research and Development Center, Phuket; representative of farmers and Chairman of the Thai Black Tiger Shrimp Cluster; lecturers from Prince of Songkhla University, Surat Thani Campus; representatives from packing houses, cold storage facilities, entrepreneurs, and hatcheries; Officials from the Fisheries Industrial Technology Research and Development Division; and Officials from SEAFDEC/TD.Meeting for the Project

Officials from the Fisheries Industrial Technology Research and Development Division and two researchers from SEAFDEC/TD, as a research team member, presented the research findings and applications of Ozone Slurry Ice, as well as demonstrated the preservation of black tiger shrimp using this technology. A model of the Ozone Slurry Ice production unit was also showcased.

The meeting further provided an opportunity for participants from various sectors to express their opinions on the application of Ozone Slurry Ice for preserving black tiger shrimp harvested by the coastal marine shrimp farmer cluster in the Andaman area, aiming to maintain maximum product quality and increase future value. Additionally, guidelines were proposed for improving the Ozone Slurry Ice system to enhance production capacity for real field usage, such as stunning shrimp immediately after harvesting and maintaining product quality during transportation.
