SEAFDEC/TD Support Marketing Accessibility in Sakon Nakhon Province, Thailand

The SEAFDEC Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries Thailand, Sakon Nakhon Provincial Fisheries Office and Nam Oon Dam Patrol Unit conducted the pilot activity in promoting fishing community products and marketing accessibility in Nam Oon Dam, Sakon Nakhon Province, Thailand from 23 to 25 November 2021. The aims to improve fishing community’s capacities in their products distribution, marketing, and management in the pilot site of inland fisheries. The relevant data was collected by group discussion with fish processing group of Ban Dong Khampho community in Nam Oom area to assess the current status of community activities on production, distributions, markets, incomes and challenges. Moreover, an economic analysis was conducted to study the profitability and better understanding the cost structure of the fisheries products. SEAFDEC/TD will further develop the appropriate activities to strengthen capacity of the fish processing group through support marketing accessibility of fisheries products in this pilot site.
