Seminar on Strengths and Opportunities Driving Fisheries Resource Management

SEAFDEC Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) organized a seminar on “Strengths and Opportunities Driving Fisheries Resource Management at the Learning Site of Ban Nai Nang, Krabi Province of Thailand” which be held on 24 May 2024 at SEAFDEC-NACA Meeting Room, SEAFDEC Secretariat, Bangkok, Thailand. There were 42 participants (26 females and 16 males (in-person and virtual) attended in the seminar. The seminar aimed to provide knowledge and exchange experiences on Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM). The seminar was delivers by Ms. Panitnard Weerawat, Fisheries Management Senior Researcher, SEAFDEC/Training Department. Her presentation was focused on implementation activities that were conducted in Ban Nai Nang village as the pilot site. The existing fisheries management plan was adapted to suit EAFM principles and implemented by the key stakeholders and community. Some of the key lessons learned from Ban Nai Nang village were strong leaders, active participation of community and officers, abundant of resources, good cooperation and coordination, well-defined management plan, and the sense of ownership over the resources.
