SEAFDEC/TD Participates in Crimes in the Fisheries Sector Workshop

Two SEAFDEC/TD staff members, Mr. Kongpathai Saraphaivanich (Training and Research Supporting Division Head) and Ms. Yanida Suthipol (IUU Fishing Countermeasure Section Head), participated in the “Regional Workshop on Crimes in the Fisheries Sector” held from 14 to 16 April 2026 in Bali, Indonesia.

The workshop was organized by the IMCS Network in collaboration with the RPOA-IUU Secretariat and supported by Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO). The workshop focused on developing practical skills in cross-border investigation, intelligence analysis, and operational tactics such as hot pursuit. By utilizing applied simulations and regional case studies, the program aimed to foster collaborative approaches and establish sustainable networks among inspectors, investigators, and prosecutors. This ensures ongoing knowledge sharing and mutual support in combating IUU fishing beyond the conclusion of the workshop.

During the workshop, Mr. Kongpathai delivered a presentation titled “SEAFDEC’s Experience and Perspectives on Regional/Subregional Cooperation and Information Sharing.” His presentation focused on promoting SEAFDEC/TD’s active implementation of initiatives aimed at combating IUU fishing across the region.
