SEAFDEC Conducts Stakeholder Consultation on Indo-Pacific Mackerel Supply Chain in Tha Sala, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand

On 2 September 2026, SEAFDEC, in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries (DOF), Thailand, organized the Stakeholder Consultation Workshop on Fishers’ Livelihood Improvement through the Indo-Pacific Mackerel Gillnet Supply Chain Study Results in Tha Sala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, Thailand. The activity was conducted under the Japanese Trust Fund project “Improving Fishers’ Livelihood and Fisheries Co-Management in Inland and Coastal Small-Scale Fisheries” (2025–2029).

The workshop followed the supply chain study conducted in November 2025 and brought together fishers, traders, local authorities, DOF, SEAFDEC, and other relevant stakeholders to review and validate the study’s findings. Participants jointly identified priority interventions to strengthen the Indo-Pacific mackerel supply chain, improve market opportunities through product quality development, and resources enhancement for improving fishing community livelihoods. The workshop also strengthened stakeholders’ understanding of climate resilience and Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI), contributing to a more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive small-scale fisheries supply chain.
