On 5 November 2026, the Acceptance Committee of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center, Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) visited the Faculty of International Maritime Studies, Kasetsart University, Sriracha Campus, Chon Buri Province. The visit aimed to review the progress and findings of the “Propeller Performance Analysis and Validation” project. The committee was welcomed by Associate Professor Prachakon Kaewkhiaw, D.Eng., Dean of the Faculty, who presented the research activities and propeller performance testing results.
The project is implemented under the Japanese Trust Fund 7 “Research and Dissemination of Sustainable Fishing Technology,” in collaboration with the Faculty of International Maritime Studies, Kasetsart University. The study aims to evaluate the performance of propellers used on small-scale fishing vessels in the pilot area of Bang Saphan District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.
During the visit, the research team presented the results of experimental testing using a cavitation tunnel to evaluate propeller performance under controlled conditions. Key parameters included thrust, torque, and propeller efficiency, with the experimental findings compared against CFD simulation results to validate the accuracy and reliability of the analysis.
The research is expected to provide a scientific basis for improving propeller design to better suit the operating conditions of small-scale fishing vessels. Ultimately, these findings will contribute to improving propulsion efficiency, reducing fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, and lowering fishing operational costs, thereby supporting more energy-efficient and sustainable fisheries.
