SEAFDEC Secretary-General Welcomes JICA Delegation at SEAFDEC/TD

On 27 March 2026, the SEAFDEC Secretary-General, Ms. Sampan Panjarat, together with the Deputy Secretary-General, Mr. Koichi Tahara, and senior officials from the Training Department and Secretariat, warmly welcomed the representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) at SEAFDEC/TD.

While expressing her appreciation to JICA for its continued support, Ms. Sampan emphasized the importance of the partnership between the two organizations and highlighted their shared commitment to advancing sustainable fisheries management and strengthening food security in Southeast Asia.

The discussions focused on ongoing collaborative initiatives under ASEAN cooperation, including the ASEAN-JICA Food Value Chain Development Project and the ASEAN-JICA Capacity Building Project on IUU Fishing Countermeasures in Southeast Asia. During the Mission, the JICA representatives toured SEAFDEC/TD facilities, the research vessel M.V. SEAFDEC to observe the technical capacity supporting regional fisheries development.
