SEAFDEC/TD participated in the FURUNO FCV-600 Calibration Test at Fisheries Technology Research Institute, Fisheries Research and Education Agency (FRA) in Kamisu, Japan

SEAFDEC Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) represented by Dr. Koki Abe, Expert, and Ms. Saruttaya Jaroonpongsawat, Researcher, joined the SEAFDEC Marine Fishery Resources Development and Management Department (MFRDMD) in collaboration with Fisheries Research and Education Agency (FRA) Japan, Hokkaido University, and FURUNO Company in the calibration test of the FURUNO FCV-600 echo sounder from 25 to 28 November 2025 at the Fisheries Technology Research Institute, Kamisu Branch, Japan.

The calibration measured the basic performance of the FCV-600, ensuring that the device can be operated and its data handled similarly to a quantitative fish finder, supporting the operational readiness of portable fish-finding equipment for coastal fisheries assessments. This activity is led by SEAFDEC/MFRDMD and will support the JTF-7 project for the small-scale acoustic surveys in coastal areas of Malaysia.
