Seminar on the Utilization of GIS and RS in Fisheries and Environmental Science

SEAFDEC Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) organized the “Regional Seminar on the Utilization of Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) in Fisheries and Environmental Science from 19 to 20 November 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand. Twenty-five (25) participants from ASEAN Member Countries who are scientists or fisheries managers attend this seminar. The representatives from AMSs were requested to present on the same subject as the Seminar title in their countries. Moreover, five experts in GIS and RS from Burapha University, Burapha University (Chanthaburi Campas), Kasetsart University, and the Department of Fisheries, Thailand were invited to share knowledge at the Seminar. The Seminar was expected to improve the understanding and application of GIS and RS for fisheries and environmental science among participants. Moreover, the Seminar came up with a comprehensive set of recommendations outlining the way forward for utilizing GIS and RS technologies for fisheries and environmental science activities in Southeast Asia. This Seminar is an activity under the “Sustainable Utilization of Fisheries Resources and Resources Enhancement in Southeast Asia” project.
