Promotion of eACDS for Small-scale Fishing in Thailand

The SEAFDEC Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) conducted the meeting for “Initially Implementation of electronic ASEAN Catch Documentation Scheme (eACDS) for Small-scale Fisheries Traceability” from 7 to 8 December 2022, at the pilot site of Ban Nainang, Krabi Province, Thailand. There were 41 participants including 27 women and 14 men, composed of SEAFDEC, fishery officers from Department of Fisheries (Headquarters and Krabi Province), fishers, and the private sector. The objective of the meeting was to discuss the need of the small-scale fisheries in the part of Catch Declaration (CD) to enhance value of fisheries products and marketing in a pilot site of Ban Nainang village. The SEAFDEC/TD introduced and demonstrated on the use of eACDS in the part of Catch Declaration which cover catch report at sea and e-logbook. Furthermore, SEAFDEC/TD and fishery officers brainstormed in identifying the possibility and Key Data Elements (KDEs) for eACDS application. The participants interested and appreciated to use this application for enhancing value of fisheries products and marketing. This activity is an activity under the project “Small-scale Fisheries Management for Better Livelihood and Fisheries Resources”.
