SEAFDEC/TD Welcome Delegate from the State of Eritrea

SEAFDEC Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) welcomed seven participants from the State of Eritrea and three lecturers from Kasetsart University on 13 May 2024. The role of SEAFDEC in the region including project implementation by SEAFDEC/TD were imparted. Moreover, the subjects on long-tail fishing boat in Thailand, a case study on a solar-powered electric long-tail boat in Thailand, and trawl and purse seine fishing operation and onboard preservation method were presented by marine engineer, Mr. Khunthawat Manomayithikan and Mr. Thaweesak Thimkrap respectively. During the visit, the delegates increased their knowledge and experience about SEAFDEC activities and observing the marine engineering workshop.

The State of Eritrea is a northeast African country on the Red Sea coast. It shares borders with Ethiopia, Sudan and Djibouti. The capital city, Asmara, is known for its Italian colonial buildings, like St. Joseph’s Cathedral, as well as art deco structures. Italian, Egyptian and Turkish architecture in Massawa reflect the port city’s colorful history. Notable buildings here include St. Mariam Cathedral and the Imperial Palace.
