Training on Climate Change and the Impact on Fish Stock Life in ASEAN

SEAFDEC Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) organized the “Training Course on Monitoring the Phenomenon of Climate Change and the Impact on Fish Stock Life History Parameters in Waters in Southeast Asia from 10 to 13 June 2024 to build capacity on the dynamics of marine environment and the biomass monitoring based on per-recruit analysis in Southeast Asia through back-to-back the “Core Expert Meeting on Improving the Draft Work Plan and Way Forward on Project Implementation” on 14 June 2024 to improve the draft work plan to be more realistic and comprehensive, exchange the point of view from the fish stock assessment researchers and climate change researcher, synthesize the appropriate monitoring on forecasting methods for the impact of climate change on fishery resources, and determine the target fishery resource species sensitive to climate change. Both events were organized at SEAFDEC/TD, Samut Prakan, Thailand, and participated by seven participants from TD, MFRDMD, IFRDMD, and Burapha University Chanthaburi Campus. Three resource persons, Prof. Dr. Matsuishi Takashi Fritz from Hokkaido University, Dr. Jitraporn Phaksopa from Kasetsart University, and Dr. Rishi Sharma from FAO were invited to impart knowledge and suggestions in both events. The events are activities under the project “USAID DOI International Technical Assistance Program (ITAP)”.
