Training of Trainers for Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management in Phang Nga Province, Thailand

SEAFDEC Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) organized the “Training of Trainers (TOT) for the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM)” from 24 to 27 September 2024, in Phang Nga Province, Thailand. This Training enhanced the capacity of 10 participants (7 males and 3 females) from the Department of Fisheries (DOF) and the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) Thailand. The training equipped participants with essential skills for implementing sustainable fisheries management under the BOBLME II project. Through practical sessions, they improved their understanding of E-EAFM, alongside their presentation and facilitation skills, enabling them to effectively guide local stakeholders.

“This training is a vital step in empowering the next generation of trainers for sustainable marine resource management. By equipping local leaders with the necessary skills, we are moving towards a sustainable future for fisheries in the Bay of Bengal.” The TOT-EAFM supports BOBLME II’s objective of institutionalizing EAFM at the national level, particularly concerning transboundary fish stocks, and promotes collaborative efforts in marine resource management.
