Regional Consultation on Fishing Vessels Record and Information Sharing to Combat IUU Fishing

The SEAFDEC Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) organized the “Regional Technical Consultation on Regional Fishing Vessels Record (RFVR) and Information Sharing to Support the Elimination of IUU Fishing” from 23 to 24 April 2025 in Nonthaburi Province, Thailand. The consultation brought together 37 participants from ASEAN Member States, including RFVR National Focal Points and policy-level representatives. The consultation aimed to update information within the RFVR database for vessels 24 meters in length and over. Participants also reached an agreement on the appropriate range of vessels less than 24 meters in length to be included in the RFVR system and provided suggestions for the development of an RFVR Database specifically focusing on carrier vessels of this size. This consultation is an activity under the project “Enhancement of Regional Cooperation and Human Resource Development to Eliminate IUU Fishing.”
