On 25 June 2026, the Training Department of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) hosted an internal training session titled “Gender Mainstreaming in the SEAFDEC Organization.” Held in the Fishing Workshop Building’s Conference Room, the event welcomed 28 participants (22 women and 6 men), including new hires, Human Resources (HR) personnel, and staff from both the Secretariat and the Training Department.
Co-organized by the Administrative and Human Resources Section, the session was led by Ms. Jariya Sornkliang (Gender Focal Point of SEAFDEC/TD) and Ms. Rattana Tiaye, Fisheries Management Researchers from the Research and Development Division. Through dynamic presentations and interactive discussions, attendees explored core gender equality concepts, mainstreaming approaches, and their practical application within SEAFDEC.
The initiative primarily aimed to elevate awareness of gender equality among new staff and HR teams. It also laid the groundwork for an updated employee orientation program that practically integrates gender perspectives. During the session, participants actively exchanged ideas on embedding gender-responsive practices into their daily routines and broader organizational workflows.
Ultimately, the training successfully deepened the staff’s understanding of gender mainstreaming and promoted inclusive workplace values. The event reaffirmed SEAFDEC’s dedication to cultivating an equitable, respectful, and diverse environment, aligning with broader goals for sustainable organizational growth and international development.
