The Training Department of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC/TD) conducted a study visit to Nissui (Thailand) Co., Ltd. in Songkhla Province, Thailand, to learn about the company’s traceability system and its implementation in fish processing operations.
During the visit, representatives from Nissui (Thailand) introduced the company’s background and provided an overview of the procedures for requesting and issuing key traceability-related documents, including Movement Documents, Statements of Catch, and Catch Certificates. The presentation also highlighted the roles and responsibilities of relevant stakeholders involved in each stage of the documentation and traceability process.
SEAFDEC/TD staff also had the opportunity to observe the production line and learn how traceability information is maintained throughout the processing chain. The visit covered several stages, beginning with the receipt of fish, followed by sorting and weighing according to product requirements, cleaning and cutting, processing, and finally the packaging of finished products.
The study visit provided SEAFDEC/TD staff with practical insights into the application of traceability systems at the processing-plant level and enhanced their understanding of how documentation, stakeholder coordination, and production processes contribute to the effective traceability of fish and fishery products.
