The SEAFDEC Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) organized the “Regional Consultation Workshop on the Study of the Small-scale Fisheries Supply Chain in Southeast Asia” from 24 to 26 September 2025 at SEAFDEC/TD in Samut Prakan, Thailand. The workshop combined lectures, plenary discussions, and breakout group sessions, with the objectives of sharing knowledge, finalizing the study methodology, and strengthening participants’ capacity in small-scale fisheries supply chain development. Key outputs included consolidated supply chain information from ASEAN Member Countries (AMSs) and a plan for data collection at selected study sites.
A total of 32 participants (21 females and 11 males) attended, representing six SEAFDEC Member Countries(Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam), SEAFDEC Departments (Secretariat, and TD), the Regional Fisheries Policy Network (RFPN) and partner organizations as the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Japan Fisheries Research and Education Agency, Kasetsart University, Mahidol University, Research Institute for Inland Fisheries and Extension (RIIFE), Fishermen Shop, Too Big To Ignore, and Pla Organic Enterprise Company Limited.
Throughout the workshop, participants actively engaged in lectures and planning activities, enhancing their knowledge and skills to conduct supply chain studies in small-scale fisheries. They also gained valuable insights and experience from case studies shared during the sessions.
