The Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center, Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) and the Department of Fisheries (DOF), Thailand, jointly convened the 3rd Consultation Meeting on the Collaborative Program with the Government of Thailand on 11 August 2026 at the DOF Headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand. The meeting brought together 53 participants (28 females and 25 males) from DOF Thailand and SEAFDEC/TD, including senior fisheries officers and senior staff. The meeting aimed to review the implementation progress of nine (9) project activities from January to June 2026 and discuss priorities and planned activities for the second half of 2026.

The projects under the collaborative program cover several priority areas, including application of solar energy to reduce operational costs, the testing of acoustic technology to mitigate impacts on marine animals, studies on vessel monitoring systems, promotion of gender equality, freshwater inland EAFM, R programming to support fisheries resource management, hydroacoustic techniques, assessment of anchovy light-luring fisheries catch rates, and resource valuation of Rayong Bay.

The consultation meeting also provided an opportunity for DOF Thailand and SEAFDEC/TD to exchange views and discuss administrative and technical matters related to project implementation. Key issues requiring close attention included the availability of vessels for field activities, procurement of necessary equipment, engagement of specialized resource persons, and coordination with relevant agencies to support the timely implementation and achievement of project outputs.

Overall, the meeting successfully reaffirmed the continued commitment and collaboration between DOF Thailand and SEAFDEC/TD in strengthening fisheries capacity, research, and sustainable fisheries development in Thailand.
