The Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center, Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD), organized the Subregional Training Course on Data Analysis of Fisheries Resources and Biological Data in Relation to the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) from 6 to 9 July 2026 at SEAFDEC/TD, Samut Prakan, Thailand. This subregional training was conducted under the project “Enhanced Marine Research Capacities to Manage Fisheries Resources: Capacity building on marine environment change monitor and assessing their impact on fishery resources” which aims to enhance the capacity of SEAFDEC Member Countries’ researchers in understanding the impacts of marine environmental changes on fishery resources through conduct collaborative research and convening the training course.
Resource persons of the training were from Ubon Ratchathani University (UBU); Burapha University (BUU) Chanthaburi Campus; Rambhai Barni Rajabhat University (RBRU); Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) with A total of 21 participants (8 women and 13 men) attended, representing Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Thailand, as well as the Regional Fisheries Policy Network (RFPN) and staff from SEAFDEC Secretariat, MFRDMD, and TD.
This training contributed to strengthen the capacity of SEAFDEC Member Countries in monitoring marine environmental changes and assessing their impacts on fisheries resources. Through lectures and practical sessions, participants will enhance their skills in data integration, statistical analysis, and the interpretation of climate–fisheries interactions, while also strengthening collaboration and networking among researchers in Southeast Asia.
