The Key Stakeholder Workshop to Monitor the Implementation of EAFM Plan in Ranong

The SEAFDEC Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) organized “The Key stakeholder workshop to monitor the implementation of Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM) plan” from 22 to 25 November 2022, at Ban Hat Sai Khao village in Ranong Province, which pilot site.  There were 15 participants (8 females and 7 males) who are key stakeholders from Ranong Provincial Fisheries office, Suk Samran Fisheries District office, Ranong Marine Fisheries Research and Development Center, Mangrove Forest Resources Development Station, Suk Samran Agriculture District Office, Surin Marine Fisheries Patrol Unit, Andaman Coastal Research Station Mangrove Conservation Center 8 (Suksamran, Ranong), Kampuan Sub-District Municipal, Community Development Office, National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation office, Suk Samran District Public Health office, Hat Sai Khao village committee, squid bank group and fish processing group attended in this workshop

The participants shared and discussed on ideas and comments to adjust the plan especially the management action which the stakeholder willing to support the activities under their responsible. Furthermore, SEAFDEC support vacuum sealer to the fish processing group to improve the packaging of products. Besides, the squid bank was established in front of the village after the monsoon season including the crab seed releasing in the mangrove area which will be proposed to be the conservation zone by community to enhance fisheries resources and rising awareness of community member. These activities are under the project “Small-scale Fisheries Management for Better Livelihood and Fisheries Resources”
