The Site Training on Gender Concept and Analysis in Lao PDR

The SEAFDEC Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) in collaboration with the Department of Livestock and Fisheries (DLF) of Lao PDR conducted “The Site Training for Enumerator on Gender Concept and Analysis and Development of a Data Collection Protocol” from 15 to 17 December 2020 at Bolikhamxay Province, Lao PDR. The training aimed to introduce the gender concept and gender in fisheries and aquaculture to DLF officers and develop tools through plan of data collecting on Gender Dimension in the Value Chain of Small-scale Fisheries and Aquaculture in Southeast Asia for inland aquaculture at Bolikhamxay Province, Lao PDR. There were 16 participants from SEAFDEC/TD and DLF which is composed of eight (8) women and eight (8) men attended in this Training. Three days of training consisted of: 1) introducing gender concept and analysis, 2) Formulation of the questionnaire to conduct gender analysis in small-scale inland aquaculture, and 3) To practice on data collecting in the project site. The training proceeds through actively participation and sharing information from DLF and online supervising from SEAFDEC/TD. This training was organized under the project of “Gender Dimension in the Value Chain of Small-scale Fisheries and Aquaculture in Southeast Asia” which sponsored by Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
