Training on the Evaluation Approaches of Artificial Reefs Installation

SEAFDEC Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) organized the “Regional Training Course on the Evaluation Approaches of Artificial Reefs Installation to Enhance Marine Resources: Case Study of Fish Enhancing Devices (FEDs)” back-to-back with the “Seminar on Resource Enhancement in Southeast Asian Region from 27 to 28 and 29 August 2024 respectively, at SEAFDEC/TD, Samut Prakan, Thailand. Twenty-five participants who are scientists or fisheries managers from ASEAN Member States attended both events. The training was expected to improve capacity on evaluation approaches of artificial reefs installation to enhance marine resources for participants. The resource persons who were expertise as Prof. Dr. Tuantong Jutagate from Ubon Ratchathani University, Dr. Sontaya Koolkalya from Rambhai Barni Rajabhat University, Dr. Ahmad Ali, resource enhancement expert, Ms. Penchan Laongmanee from Burapha University were invited to impart knowledge in the Training. While the seminar aimed to improve knowledge, ideas, and experiences related to resource enhancement on the list of the target species sensitive to climate change. The set of recommendations on the way forward regarding resource enhancement activities in the region is expected from the seminar. These activities are under the project “Sustainable Utilization of Fisheries Resources and Resources Enhancement in Southeast Asia”.
