Survey of Fishery Resources in Koh Panyee, Phang Nga Province, Thailand

The Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center, Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD), in collaboration with the Phuket Marine Fisheries Research and Development Center, conducted a fishery resource survey in Koh Panyee, Phang Nga Province, on 29–30 September, 16–17 October, and 13–14 November 2025 as part of the BOBLME Phase II Project (Bay of Bengal Large Marine Ecosystem Project). Fishery officers worked with local fishers to collect data from five main types of fishing gear, namely crab gillnets (15 samplings), fish gillnets (9 samplings), shrimp trammel nets (8 samplings), fish traps (6 samplings), and crab traps (3 samplings), totaling 41 samplings. Information collected included species, length, and catch volume. The activity aimed to study the diversity and abundance of aquatic species caught by local fishers and to provide baseline information and indicators for the EAFM plan, supporting sustainable fisheries management in Koh Panyee.
