Webinar on ALDFG and Marine Debris in Southeast Asia SEAFDEC Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD) in cooperation with the Institute of Marine Research (IMR), Norway organized โ€œWebinar on Addressing Abandoned, Lost, and Discarded Fishing Gear (ALDFG) and Marine Debris in Southeast Asiaโ€ on 11 November 2024 via online platform. There were 182 participants attending the webinar. This webinar served as a platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and discussions on innovative solutions to mitigate the impacts of ALDFG and marine debris, explore challenges and opportunities for gear marking, and outline a way forward to reduce ALDFG and marine debris impacts across the Southeast Asian region. The initiative to promote a deeper regional comprehension of the effects and management strategies related to abandoned, lost, and discarded fishing gear (ALDFG). It aspires to enhance collaboration among SEAFDEC member countries and international entities, including the Institute of Marine Research (IMR) were expected outputs of this webinar. Furthermore, the project concentrated on pinpointing prospective collaborative endeavors aimed at reducing ghost fishing and managing marine debris effectively in Southeast Asia.
