Regional Inception Meeting of the Promoting the Blue Economy and Strengthening Fisheries Governance of the Gulf of Thailand through the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries (GoTFish)

The Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC), acting as the Regional Coordination Unit (RCU), organized the Regional Inception Workshop for the GoTFish Project, “Promoting the Blue Economy and Strengthening Fisheries Governance of the Gulf of Thailand through the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries,” on 18–19 November 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand.

The workshop brought together 54 participants (32 women, 22 men), including representatives from the GoTFish Project Participating Countries—Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Viet Nam—Key project partners i.e. Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC), the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP), the University of Queensland (UQ) and the Members of academia, fisherfolk organizations, and the private sectors also participate in the event as observers.

The workshop aimed to introduce the project’s objectives, management framework, and expected outputs, while fostering knowledge sharing, partnership development, and regional cooperation. Throughout the discussions, participants explored joint strategies to strengthen sustainable fisheries governance and promote the blue economy, marking an important milestone in advancing the collaborative management of marine resources in the Gulf of Thailand.
