The Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center, Training Department (SEAFDEC/TD), in collaboration with the Department of Livestock and Fisheries (DLF) of Lao PDR, organized the Annual Meeting of the Project “Improving Fishers’ Livelihood and Fisheries Co-management in Inland and Coastal Small-scale Fisheries” from 2 to 3 December 2025 in Lao PDR. The meeting aimed to review progress at the pilot sites in 2025, identify challenges and lessons learned to strengthen project implementation, plan and confirm activities for 2026, and enhance knowledge sharing and coordination among SEAFDEC Departments and national focal points. A total of 11 participants (8 women and 3 men) attended, including representatives from SEAFDEC/TD, SEAFDEC/IFRDMD, focal persons from Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Thailand, and officers from the Department of Livestock and Fisheries (DLF) of Lao PDR.

The two-day program included a one-day meeting and a study visit to the Nam Xouang Reservoir pilot site, which has demonstrated successful fisheries co-management and the development of alternative livelihoods under the project. The visit provided an opportunity for participants to exchange experiences, good practices, and lessons learned, contributing to improved guidance and effectiveness for future project implementation.
