SEAFDEC Participates in Bilateral Meeting with Brunei Darussalam’s Department of Fisheries

The SEAFDEC Secretary-General and Training Department Chief, Dr. Suttinee Limthammahisorn was accompanied by key SEAFDEC/Training Department (TD) staff, including Dr. Worawit Wanchana (Research and Development Division), Mr. Sukchai Arnupapboon (Fishing Ground and Oceanography Section Head), and Ms. Siriporn Pangsorn (Fishing Ground Information Scientist) participated in a bilateral meeting with the Department of Fisheries, Brunei Darussalam on 18 June 2025. The meeting took place at the Department of Fisheries’ office in Brunei Darussalam.

The bilateral meeting served to strengthen collaboration and technical cooperation between SEAFDEC and Brunei Darussalam’s Department of Fisheries. Key topics of discussion included 1) Marine Resources Assessment: Review of the status and future direction of the marine resources assessment conducted in 2024 using the M.V. SEAFDEC 2 in Brunei Darussalam’s waters, 2) Proposed Survey Cruise: Discussions regarding a proposed survey cruise utilizing the M.V. SEAFDEC 2 in 2025, and 3) Future Collaboration: Identification of potential areas for collaboration in capture fisheries and fish processing industries. SEAFDEC reaffirmed its commitment to continuing technical support in the areas discussed. The organization will coordinate closely with designated focal points from the Department of Fisheries, Brunei Darussalam, to develop a detailed work plan aimed at achieving the program’s objectives.
