SEAFDEC/TD participated in the 18th RPOA-IUU Coordination Committee Meeting Singapore

Mr. Isara Chanrachkij Project Planning and Management Division Head, SEAFDEC Training Department, participated in the 18th RPOA-IUU Coordination Committee Meeting, at Singapore, 26-27 November 2025. The meeting aimed to discuss the RPOA-IUU Work Plan 2025 and progress, endorsing sub-regional group reports, reviewing RPOA-IUU implementation, deliberating emerging issues to accelerate Core Element implementation, and developing the RPOA-IUU Work Plan 2026.

SEAFDEC presented the Regional Outlook and Priorities Relevant to Responsible Fishing Practices and IUU Fishing Eradication, detailing nine (9) Priority Areas for Future Action to Combat IUU Fishing in Southeast Asia: 1. Vessel monitoring, 2. Strengthening MCS, 3. AMS/regional cooperation on IUU information, 4. Encroachment of foreign vessels, 5. Strengthening catch documentation, 6. Development of national/regional estimation of IUU losses, 7. Strengthening evidence and prosecution procedures, 8. Monitor Transshipment Activity, and 9. Legal Reform. Progress on the Regional Initiatives for Combating IUU Fishing referencing these nine areas, implemented by SEAFDEC/TD under the supporting by Japanese Trust Fund 7 and JICA, was also presented.
