SEAFDEC/TD Welcomes Kyoto Prefectural University Delegation for a Study Visit

The Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center/ Training Department (SEAFDEC/ TD) warmly welcomed a two-member delegation from Kyoto Prefectural University, Japan, consisting of Professor Satoshi Ishikawa, a former JICA expert, and his student, on 10 July 2026.

The delegations visited SEAFDEC/TD to study its activities and observe its modern facilities. After receiving a warm welcome from the high-level executives of SEAFDEC, the delegates toured the specialized facilities. The tour began with a detailed briefing by senior officials on the advanced operational and maintenance systems of the M.V. SEAFDEC, followed by a visit to the fishing workshop to observe various types of specialized fishing gear and technological equipment managed directly by SEAFDEC/ TD.

The visit concluded with a productive presentation session where SEAFDEC/TD officials gave an informative briefing on the active projects and initiatives currently undertaken by the department. As a result of this successful visit, valuable knowledge was effectively shared between both sides, and the professional relationship between the Kyoto Prefectural University, Japan, and SEAFDEC/TD was greatly strengthened, paving the way for future academic and research collaborations.
